We Are The Birds

Through a row of birdhouses along Södra Strandgatan, it seems as though birds are speaking. They talk about the ornithologist who both gives them names and describes how they live. The birds are now making a sharp statement: “The truth is that the ornithologist doesn’t have any idea how it is to be able to spread your wings and fly. What the ornithologist needs to know is that when we are free, we are creative. When we are creative, we become free.”

“Just like all birds in the sky,” adds the artist group, referring to itself. The work was created by participants in the AniAra cultural space in Hallsberg in collaboration with Mike Inglis. At AniAra, everyone, regardless of functional variation, can be involved and build up self-esteem and self-confidence through creative work.
