Yemisi Wilson

Yemisi is trained in art at the Accademia di Belli Arti in Florence and worked as a sculptor in Pietrasanta for many years. Her studio is in Vinterviken, Stockholm. She works in different types of stone and visits the quarries where she selects specific stones. The memory, the collective and the intuitive that emerges in a dialogue with the stone are part of Yemisi's working method; Large mammals, sculpted naturalistically, or as archaeological fragments of sculptures from a bygone era, with carefully depicted details. Portraits of her family or intuitively sculpted heads in interaction with the stone such as her series in porphyry and alabaster.
