Robert Söderqvist

The artwork floats on the river, a painting in different blocks and colors with attached three-dimensional trees, houses and a bathing ladder that goes down into the water.

On the flowing waters of the Svartån River, the city takes on new dimensions. Above the surface hovers a landscape that shifts our gaze far off into the distance. Three-dimensional objects point out marked differences in levels. Söderqvist looks for his subjects in nature and built environments. He captures lines and lets the depths of the landscape carefully emerge on the flat surfaces of the painting. Söderqvist works innovatively, in the centuries-long tradition of landscape painting. His work in Örebro measures an impressive 8x12 metres. Whether or not the subject is typically romantic is up to the viewer’s own eye and experience.
