OpenArt June 13 - September 6 2026

OPENART is Örebro’s recurring art biennial, where contemporary art from across the globe comes together in the city centre and can be experienced without an entrance ticket.

OPENART 2026 explore a time filled with questions, uncertainty and change. Here, art becomes a place to begin searching for new ways of thinking about how we care for ourselves, each other, and our shared future. The artworks are created through collaboration and invite your participation, offering moments that can surprise, puzzle, and playfully defy expectations. OPENART 2026 reminds us that participation is the foundation of democracy, through open processes, shared knowledge, and cooperation. The exhibition does not hold all the answers; instead, it is an ongoing conversation where your perspective and your questions belong.

With Örebro Konsthall as the starting point and information center, visitors are engaged and activated through guided tours and events. Järntorget becomes a space for creativity, with activities and workshops. The tenth edition of the biennial takes place between June 13 and September 6 2026.

2026 marks the tenth edition. During the course of three months, contemporary art will take over the central parts of Örebro, surprising, moving, sparking unexpected conversations, and inspiring new ways of thinking. The grand opening is on June 13, and the exhibition runs until September 6, 2026.

OpenArt is organized by the Art Unit of Örebro Municipality. The Art Unit, part of Nature and Cultural Life in Örebro Municipality, brings OpenArt, Örebro Art Gallery, and the city’s public art together under one leadership.
