Dreams in the City
Kim Demåne, installation

A large sleeping figure spreads out in the city. The body is constructed of wooden boards and painted in bright colours. The head is interwoven with small buildings and walls, as if an entire settlement had taken root in its thoughts. The figure also houses a room: through an opening in a container, visitors can watch a video taking place in the sleeper’s inner world. Kim Demåne works with drawings, murals, animation and sculpture. Fantasy and everyday life converge in his works, often with urban environments as a starting point. In Dreams in the City, sleep becomes a break from reality. The sleeping figure carries another world – a place where the weight of the city dissolves for a moment in the dream.
