Rhonda Weppler & Trevor Mahovsky

On the small square in Gamlastan stands an antique shop with large glass windows. The store's name SKYMNING lights up at the top of the front of the store.

Under konstruktion i OPENARTs verkstad.

Lanterns glow in the summer evening from the windows of a small antiques shop, specially constructed for OpenArt. Five hundred handmade lanterns, all made of paper carefully joined together to achieve its expression. Here is a Mora clock, an old post-box and a glorious mishmash of packages for products from Canada and the US.

Canadian artists Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky are interested in our material culture and relationship to things. Their works aim to inspire individual creation and a do-it-yourself spirit, in which every one of us is able to build, fix, repair and improve objects and gadgets. The summer concludes with a finissage, where visitors can each bring in their very own lantern. With the last lantern, the shop goes dark.

Picture inside the shop Skymning, which is set up like a kiosk where lanterns shine on shelves along the walls. In the center is a large inflatable lantern that resembles a Swedish Mora clock.
