1967, Sweden

Thomas Nordström's art is about an extended concept of democracy, geopolitics, the environment, fish and birds. Female voting rights was introduced in Sweden in 1921. Many groups today lack democratic influence, for example children, future generations and animals and plants on earth. Today, climate issues have a greatly reduced priority in both Sweden and in large parts of the world.

Nordström's grandfather was a fisherman during the first half of the 20th century. Back then, fishing was small-scale and sustainable. Today the situation is catastrophic. Species, such as the Baltic herring, are on the verge of extinction and entire marine ecosystems can be destroyed.
