1956, Germany

Susken Rosenthal works mostly with geometric shapes and the installations are made of materials from the place where it is to be shown. Rosenthal intends to create art works that become meaningful as poetic or critical comments in their situative context. She sees them as a kind of reaction or addition to the surrounding space. The concepts are influenced by formal aspects like architecture and dimension as well as ecological, historical, or social aspects. Ideally the work interacts with its environment in a way that leads to an irritation or even to a surreal experience for the observer.
